Future of the NBA
Was Height the Difference in tonight’s Philadelphia 76ers Win?
Today I covered the Dallas Mavericks vs Philadelphia 76ers.
There was a lot of pre-game talk about a 6'10" guard…
If that’s what you’re saying, I totally understand, yes, 6'10".
Most point guards are little guys…well, by little, shortttttter than 6'10".
(by NBA standards)
Philadelphia 76ers Guard Ben Simmons is 6'10".
During the pre-game press conference, Mavs Coach Rick Carlisle described how former NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal changed the nature of the NBA with his dominating presence.
Shaq is one of the greatest Centers to play in the NBA, did I mention he’s 7'’1"?
Michael Jordan…no need to write about MJ…we know his legendary status…Air Jordan!!
I asked both coaches about Simmons as well as the future Hall of Famer of the Dallas Mavericks, Dirk Nowitzki.
Tonight’s game was tied at 76 with 4:27 remaining in the 3rd quarter. At the close of the 3rd quarter, the 76ers enjoyed an eleven point lead. Philly won 112 to 110 as the Mavs missed two free throws in the closing minutes of the 4th quarter.
Nowitzki mentioned that Simmons could have been the difference in tonight’s Mavs loss.
Tonight, Ben Simmons commanded the floor with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists.
W-H-A-T…I witnessed tonight was…art, history…definitely the future of the NBA! Simmons is graceful, plays great defense, and commands the floor.
I interviewed Simmons post-game and let’s just say that the height of the NBA is in a unique class…if he’s the future, the NBA is in good hands.
Well, it’s 11:53 pm, Halloween weekend in Dallas and I still need to pack for my flight in the morning, stay tuned for more on this story.
